All good things must come to an end but not before a great shoot

After 4 years of being in this studio, it’s time to move on. This studio was the beginning of my career in being a commercial pet photographer. My studio suited my needs quite well, I had a nice seating area, a nice shooting area, beautiful exposed white brick walls with beautiful wood floors. Unfortunately, I out grew this space. My pet commercial shoots were getting bigger, I am now shooting more and more pet videos and my space couldn’t handle the type of work I was expanding to.

But before I close the doors for the last time, I had one last shoot. The biggest shoot I have ever had in this space. I created a set that took up over half of the studio, we had to manoeuvre in a way around the lights, making sure we didn’t move anything. We used bright bold colours, props, and used the quirkiest dogs I had in my dog model database. This shoot was too big for my small space, and it was clear that there was a need to change.

Wonderfur is my client, a new pet supplement brand that is going shake up the pet supplement/treat industry. I won’t go into much detail because Wonderfur is launching in a few weeks. I can tell you this, it’s an exciting product(s) that your pets will love.

When Wonderfur contacted me and explained what they are looking for, what the feel of the shoot will be, what the story is behind the product, I was so excited to be a part of it. They asked if I had any dogs that would suit the story that we are wanting to tell. I had a few dogs in mind, a few dogs that I have worked with in the past. I showed my client the dogs and of course they picked 2 of my favourite dogs that I have worked with. Lucy, a chocolate cocker spaniel, she has this cool beach vibe. The fur on her head is a lighter brown from the rest of her body, the curls and the swoop of the fur makes you laugh when you see her. I knew Lucy was a perfect fit for this shoot

Milo, is another dog that I presented to my client. Milo is a Russian Toy but has the confidence of a dog that is much bigger. The fur on his ears and tail makes you fall in love with him instantly. He walks into the studio like he owns the place. I have used Milo a few times and every single shoot, we capture the best images.

Obviously, as you can tell, my clients loved these 2 dogs and wanted to book them in. The shoot started with Milo. He came in with his owner, he ran up to me and I gave him the best pats. Usually I give dogs 10-15 mins to get situated to the studio, the people in the studio but Milo knew what he was there for. I talked to Milos owner and within a few mins we were shooting. The client was loving the images we were capturing.and what Milo was giving us. Here is the header image. The image we went with was one of the first ones we grabbed. Milos expression, and composition of the image just works so well together

Lucy was booked after Milo. Lucy loves to come into the studio, she loves her treats, she loves to cuddle and she is great at what she does. We needed Lucy in 2 different scenarios, the first image was similar to Milos, but the second image required Lucys owner in the image as well. Just look at those bangs!!!!!

The final shoot in my studio was easily the best shoot I have had in the studio. I will miss this place, this studio is where it all began, where I created my style, where I decided to go into commercial pet photography. But I am on to bigger and better things in the commercial pet photography space. Keep your eye peeled because there are some great things coming from me and The Dogs Pyjamas
