What is commercial pet photography, and how's it different from a pet portrait session?
Commercial pet photography is all about creating imagery that helps your brand shine — think packaging, e-commerce listings, websites, social media, and campaigns. It's a little different from our portrait sessions, which are all about capturing your own fur-baby's personality for you to treasure. With commercial work, every shot is planned around your brand's goals and the platforms your customers will actually see it on, so your products get the spotlight they deserve.
What's the difference between e-commerce shots and lifestyle photography?
We love shooting both! E-commerce shots are clean, crisp, and detail-focused — perfect for product listings and packaging, where every texture and detail needs to shine. Lifestyle photography is more about showing your product living its best life in the real world, often with a pet genuinely enjoying it — ideal for social media, ads, and storytelling. Most brands love a mix of both to cover all their bases.
Why is professional pet product photography important for my business?
Pet product photography is important for your business because it can help you showcase your products in an attractive and engaging way, which can lead to increased sales. Professional pet product photography can also help you establish a cohesive brand identity and stand out from competitors.
What kinds of pet brands do you work with?
We've had the privilege of working with pet food, treat, accessory, and grooming brands of all shapes and sizes — from exciting up-and-comers to household names like Purina, Adaptil, and Dazy Dog. Whether you're launching something brand new or giving existing imagery a refresh, we tailor every shoot to your brand's unique personality.
What happens during a pre-production call?
Every commercial booking comes with a complimentary pre-production call — it's one of our favourite parts of the process! We'll chat through your brief, your products, and the creative direction, so by the time shoot day rolls around, nothing is left to chance and everyone's excited and on the same page.
How much does pet product photography cost?
The cost of pet product photography can vary depending on a number of factors, including the complexity of the project, and the number of products you need photographed. Please reach out to discuss your project, and I will be able to provide you with a customised quote.
What should I expect from a pet product photography session?
Ahead of your photography session, the photographer will work with you to create a plan for the shoot and ensure the necessary equipment and props are ready to go when you arrive. During the photoshoot, we will then take a series of photos of your products from different angles and in different lighting conditions. After the shoot, we will edit the images and provide you with a selection of high-quality photos to use in your marketing materials.
What should I bring to the photoshoot?
You are welcome to bring anything that will help your dog feel comfortable during the shoot. We provide treats and toys but if your dog has any dietary restrictions, please bring your treats from home. If we are on location, please bring bags to pick up any little surprises they might like to leave behind.
How can I prepare my pet and products for a photo shoot?
To prepare your pet and products for a photo shoot, you should make sure your pet is clean and well-groomed, and that your products are in perfect condition. You should also consider any props or backdrops you may want to use and make sure they are ready to go before the shoot.
My dog isn’t very obedient - Is this going to be a problem?
Not at all, I am a really patient person and photographer, I like to have a very relaxed photo session and this helps with the dogs to relax as well. If your dog is high energy, then it is a good idea to give them a lot of exercise before the shoot to help calm them down during the shoot. A tired dog, is a good dog!
